HEAD COACH SHAUN DE SOUZA

Also known as “LEGEND DIRK”, I have a twin (Shane), younger brother (Malcom) and a sister Susan. I grew up in Harare but moved locations quite a bit before ending up at St Joseph’s House for Boys. My interest for rugby started at Prince Edward after the Deputy Headmaster, Mr Kevin Atkinson pulled me from the hockey field to rugby training where I eventually earned 55 caps playing for the Tigers from 94’ to 97. I also earned Athletics, Basketball, Young Farmer and Rugby colors at high school. I went on to represent the country in rugby at age group level u15 , u18, u19 and u21 before going on to represent the National Senior teams in 15s and 7s.

Years after I retired from playing, I took up coaching as my social responsibility to give back to the game of rugby. I’m currently a World Rugby Level 3 Coach and an accredited World Rugby Educator. I have also represented my country as a rugby team manager for the u16, u18 and u20 age groups since 2014 .My passion for sport is evident as I’m also a member of the Harare Amateur Swimming Board where I have served since 2016.
I’m in the hardware retail industry where I have been for 21 years my sales and marketing experience has kept me going and my sporting background helps growing my network on the business front.
